Our Neighborhood Parade

We had our 2nd Annual New Heritage Parade this morning. It was so much fun! My neighbor and I organized it, and we had such a great turn out last year, that we decided to make it a yearly tradition. So we declared the Saturday before the 4th of July to be our "New Heritage Parade Day". All the kids gathered at the top of our street with their decorated bikes, wagons, and strollers, we even had several small motorized cars too. I got our 2 Cub Scouts (Seth was one of them) to carry our flags, and they all marched down the street chanting:
"We Love America! We Love America!"

The kids all came down the street, while their parents sat on the curbs to cheer for them. Grandma and Grandpa came to watch, too. The parade ended in our circle, then we all met in our neighbors' back yard for a yummy potluck breakfast.
Here are Jonah and Andrew right after the parade.

Our neighbor that lives behind us is the fire captain, and he arranged to have a firetruck park at the end of our circle for all the kids to see. They sent up the ladder (WOW! I didn't realize they could get so high!) then turned on the water. It was so powerful, and it took a lot of people by surprise. Right after this picture was taken, he started moving the hose around and the water went everywhere. As soon as we saw him moving it, the crowd scattered and everyone ran as fast as they could. Including me (as fast as I could with a big ol' belly, LOL). All the people you see in the middle of our circle were completely soaked about 10 seconds after I snapped this picture. He pretty much watered all our lawns for the day, too. ;)

Of course, my kids loved every minutes of it. Well.... except for Andrew. Tom was holding him and they both got soaked by the water. LOL

Fantastic Falcon

Cassidy got the Fantastic Falcon award for 4th grade. They had to complete 12 requirements. Among them were having no tardies, passing off the Utah counties test, memorizing and reciting 4 poems, volunteering 1 hour of service to the community, and earning 100% on 10 or more spelling tests. (sorry for the crappy pic, it was off my phone)

Toddler Bed

Andrew's first night in his big boy bed. He climbed right in, and only fell out once during the night. LOL I made sure to put down a bunch of pillows and blankets on the floor so he didn't even wake up when it happened.

Family Reunion

We went up to Preston Idaho for a family reunion today. It was so well planned and they had so many fun activities for the kids! Here's Andrew doing the one of the "rodeo" activities. This was "bronco riding".

Here's Seth doing some lamb roping.

Here's Janessa after she worked so hard on her cowgirl vest.
Here's Jonah getting ready to do some barrel racing.

Here are Cassidy and Janessa singing karaoke.

Hot Friday Afternoon

I had the little pool out and the sprinklers going for Andrew and Janessa. As soon as the older kids got home from school, they all had to join in. It was so hot today... mid 90s!

My Little Leftie

However, they don't make (or we couldn't find) a glove for her right hand. And, of course, she was set on having a pink one, so that really limited our selection. I could only find right handed mits in larger sizes. Well! Humph! What about my little leftie who wants to play baseball??
Tom and I are the coaches for her team. The kids are so dang cute!

Hot Day

We FINALLY have summer weather here. I guess I really shouldn't complain, it has been nice and mild, lots of rain (which we need), but I've been SO READY to let the kids swim and run through the sprinklers. Today was so hot. It read 95 on my car's thermometer. We let the kids run through the little sprinkler for awhile.

Lilies

We took a walk around the yard today. We actually didn't do any work (it's Sunday, after all) so we just admired the pretty flowers in bloom. I got these from WalMart for $5!! I thought they were so pretty, and for $5, how could you go wrong?

Flag Day

We had a bbq with some friends tonight, and I totally forgot to bring out my camera! I guess I was too busy being the hostess and running around making sure there was enough ice and napkins and everything else. I snapped this after the guests left. We had a great time, I couldn't count all the kids because they were all running around, but I think we had close to 30 kids here.

Meow

Kirby, our cat. He's 12 years old, and barely tolerates our other cat. He can be very very grumpy, although he never bites or scratches, then he can turn around and hop on your lap for some lovin' and purrin'. He's a good cat.

On the Rock Wall

Our school has a fundraiser carnival each year. We always go and the kids love it. It's a cheap, easy way to entertain them for the evening. Lots of bounce houses, slides, food, fun stuff to look at and buy. This was by far Seth's favorite part of the carnival.

Working with Dad

Seth helped Tom start on the swingset. I think he just likes being next to his dad and feeling grown up. He was actually a really big help, he followed along in the instructions and put some stuff together.
Notice the sweatshirt? Yeah, it was cold enough to wear pants and a sweatshirt. Middle of June. Come on, Mother Nature!

Our new swingset!

Okay, so it's still in boxes and needs to be put together, but....

Jonah's 7th Birthday Party

We waited a week for Nate and Dana to get back from Arizona so they could be here for Jonah's party. Yep, Spongebob was requested.

Front Yard

We did a little bit of yard work... heh... every night we seem to do a little bit of yard work. This is our front yard. The "Rock Guy" that arranged our rocks did a little island on the corner of our front yard. He said he was feeling artistic and got our approval for it first, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Hopefully these flowers will grow well here, I hate to think that I just buried them instead of planted them.

Slurpee Time

I have been craving Slurpees, so about once a week we all make a run to the Sev.
LOL... I just noticed that Seth is a sagger in this pic. Andrew had dripped a little bit of his slurpee on Seth's shirt so he took it off. I didn't realize how much his shorts were sagging underneath!

Happy Birthday, Jonah!

Jonah insisted on opening his presents at 1:00 pm, the exact time he was born. He got some spy gear stuff, and Indiana Jones action figure, and a computer game. Happy Birthday, Jonah!
